As a new year approaches, we resolve to do exactly what we did in 2015: improve lives in our city. We hope you will too.

Consider that:

$50 helps children ages 6 months through 5 years receive a brand new book at every well-child check-up through HealthNet’s Reach Out and Read Literacy Program.

$75 helps provide interview clothing and bus passes for at-risk, first-time fathers learning to care for their families through HealthNet’s Best Father Program.

$100 gives HealthNet the ability to use your donation for the programs and people that need it most urgently.

$500 helps provide services through the Healthy Families Program that teach and encourage the skills that make a family work.

$1,000 provides tuition for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and CNA certification for a Homeless Initiative Program client.

Last year, HealthNet served more than 59,286 individuals in the Indianapolis area. With your help, we can do even more in 2016.

Any gift, large or small, will make a difference in our ability to put our patients’ needs first as we provide the very highest standard of care in a community-based environment.

Many of us will be busy buying flowers and chocolates, or taking our special someone out to a nice dinner. This year, we invite you to try something different.

Did you know?

A dozen roses at Valentine’s Day can cost anywhere from $50-$80 or more.
A $50 donation to HealthNet helps build literacy by providing books for HealthNet’s Reach Out & Read Program. Children under age 6 receive a brand new book at every well-child check-up and their parents receive guidelines for reading aloud with their children.

A dozen chocolate covered strawberries at Valentine’s Day can cost between $20 and $30.
A $25 donation to HealthNet provides patients with emergency medical needs, such as medicine, food, shelter or transportation to and from our Health Centers.

The average person will spend approximately $130.97 on Valentine’s Day gifts and festivities, according to CNN.
A donation of $100 to HealthNet goes towards unrestricted operations support where the need is greatest.

This year, instead of buying flowers or chocolates, give the gift that gives back. Consider making a tax-deductible donation to HealthNet in honor of your loved one. Your donation helps HealthNet continue to provide care to those in Indianapolis who need it most.

To make a donation online, please visit www.indyhealthnet.org/Donate.

$2.2 Billion

$1.8 Billion

$170.71

Any idea what these three sets of numbers stand for? Well, they all have to do with Mother’s Day, which is coming up this Sunday! Each year, approximately $2.2 billion is spent on flowers for Mom, while another $1.8 billion is spent on cards! That’s a total of 4 BILLION DOLLARS for flowers and cards! So you may be wondering, what’s $170.71 mean? According to Forbes the average mother’s day gift is approximately $170.71!

This year, consider giving a gift to Mom unlike any other! Unlike flowers or cards, which unfortunately get thrown away after a week or two, give the gift of changing lives.

Consider making a gift to HealthNet in honor or in memory of all the moms in your life.Your gift, in honor or memory of all the moms in your life can make a huge impact on Indy and the patients we serve. From helping provide mammograms for women who couldn’t otherwise afford them, to providing emergency medical care to patients, every gift, whether it’s $5.00 or $170.00 makes a difference in the lives of our patients.

To make a tax-deductible donation in honor or memory of the moms in your life, you can click here or send a check by mail to HealthNet.

Now that the Holiday season is in full swing, most of us are preoccupied with the gifts that need to be purchased, decorations that need to be hung as well as meal preparation for Holiday celebrations.

Consequently, as those tasks get completed it is a wonderful time to remember those in greater need than ourselves.

Donations of many kinds impact people in ways that we can not even imagine. Of course, monetary donations are always great as they typically have more flexibility associated with how they are used but also donations of clothing, shelf stable and non perishable food, hygiene items for men and women along with warm winter clothing all are in critical shortages this winter season. In Indianapolis as many as 8,000 individuals may experience homelessness within a given year and many of these individuals do not have the basic needs that are necessary for daily life.

The Homeless Initiative Program is committed to serving these individuals in our community who need assistance by providing Triage/Outreach services, intensive Case Management, medical support to our communities homeless shelters as well as Employment and Training services for those in the search for a career or their next step in the employment process. These basic items listed can go along way to ensuring that these basic needs are able to be met so that each individual served can continue on their path to self sufficiency and reduces the anxiety that many times comes along with not having these items.

If you wish to contribute in any way including volunteering, please contact the Homeless Initiative Program at (317) 957-2275 or drop your donations off at 1835 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46202. To donate online using our safe, secure online giving options, please click here.

We appreciate the exceptional support that our communities provide to these individuals in need and hope you have a wonderful Holiday season.

Items in need:

Gloves, hats, and scarves

For hundreds of Indianapolis residents, this is an everyday occurrence.
